Pick dinner. Get on with your evening.

A dinner wheel picks from meals you already like. Put tonight's workable choices on a shortlist, spin once, and use the result if it suits you.

Tonight's dinner

  • Tacos
  • Pasta
  • Rice bowl
  • Soup and toast
  • Breakfast for dinner
  • Leftovers

This is a fixed sample. Use the iPhone app to edit and save your own options. The sample makes no AI request.

Settle the dinner question with a shortlist.

Another look through the same menus can leave you with the same choices. A saved wheel keeps those options together for the next time the dinner question comes up.

Wheelora is a decision wheel app for iPhone. Add meals or restaurant names yourself, give them equal chances or custom odds, and save the wheel. AI can help with ideas when you need a starting list.

Make a dinner wheel you can reuse.

  1. Open Wheelora and create a wheel called “Tonight's dinner.”
  2. Add a short list of meals you actually enjoy. Include easy options you can make with what you have.
  3. Before tonight's spin, remove anything outside your budget, cooking time, or dietary needs. For a group, everyone should accept every remaining option.
  4. Leave the weights equal for an even chance. Adjust them only if you want some meals to appear more often.
  5. Spin, then make the meal or confirm the restaurant is available. Save the wheel so you can reuse and update it next time.

A simple list for a weeknight.

The sample above uses six equal-weight options. Replace these with meals that fit your household in the app:

  • Tacos
  • Pasta
  • Rice bowl
  • Soup and toast
  • Breakfast for dinner
  • Leftovers

You can make separate wheels for cooking at home and going out. That keeps the spin focused once you've settled the budget and how much effort you want to spend.

Let preferences affect the odds.

If tacos are welcome more often, give them weight 2 and the other five meals weight 1. Tacos then have 2 out of 7 chances, about 28.6%. Each other meal has 1 out of 7, about 14.3%.

Weights change probability. They don't make a meal healthier, cheaper, or more suitable. See the weighted wheel example for the calculation.

Use the result as a choice you can accept.

If nobody wants the result, review the list. Taking turns, agreeing on a default, or choosing directly may work better for that evening. The wheel is most useful when everyone is happy with the candidates and just wants a way to pick.

Frequently asked questions

What is a dinner wheel?

A dinner wheel is a random picker for meals you would be happy to eat. Add acceptable choices and spin to pick one. A saved wheel keeps the shortlist ready for another evening.

Can I add my own restaurants or meals?

Yes, in the Wheelora iPhone app. Type your own options and edit them before spinning. The wheel on this page is a fixed sample, so it does not save a personalized dinner list.

Does the wheel know what's open or what I can eat?

It does not check opening hours, prices, food availability, allergies, or dietary requirements. Check those yourself and keep only suitable options on the wheel.

Do I need AI or an account?

Manual wheel creation and spinning work without AI. Start in local guest mode without an account. Sign in when you want free sync. Optional AI suggestions need an internet connection.

Keep your own shortlist ready.

Create a wheel from choices you like and reuse it when the question returns. Manual creation, spinning, and custom odds are free.
